DISTILLERY TOUR
On our Distillery Tour you will experience how Danish malted barley is transformed into Danish single malt whisky, and how herbs and spices can be used to create exciting types of gin and other spirits. During the tour we will touch upon the individual processes - the malt that is mashed, fermented and distilled and the herbs that are the main ingredient in our gin and aquavit. Finally, we offer a tasting with a selection of our current products, including gin, brandy and whiskey. Please find a date that fits your calendar and book your personal tour. WHISKY EXPERIENCE TOUR
Experience the making of Thornæs Whisky Our Whisky Experience Tour offers the opportunity to delve further into the creation of Thornæs Whisky. We start in the distillery, where we talk about the entire proces of whisky making from mashing to distillation and taste the clear spirit called New Make, which is the starting point of the maturation. Afterwards we go to our cask warehouse, where we talk about the background for maturing spirits in wooden casks, and point out which casks are maturing in the warehouse at the moment. Along the way, we will taste a further four different whiskies, at least one of which will be bottled as a cask sample on the spot. The trip takes approx. 2½ times.

About Thornæs Destilleri

Whiskey in the Heart of North Zealand

At Thornæs Distilleri we produce Danish Single Malt Whisky using double distillation in small batches. We are a Craft Distillery, which means that we manufacture all our products by hand and continuously adapt raw materials and processes to achieve the best possible result.

The distillery is established in an old horse stable on the farm Falkendal, located in North Zealand close to Gribskov and Solbjerg Engsø. On the farm, organic malt barley is produced according to varieties carefully selected by the distillery and therefore particularly suitable for the production of organic Danish Single Malt Whisky.

At the distillery we also produce a gin called Mad Owl Gin, which is named after the owl that lived in the attic of the distillery at the time we moved in in 2019. Today it's moved out - probably because of all the spectacle we go and do.

In addition to the distillery itself, both a farm shop and a tasting room have been established, where guests can sample the distillery's products and buy some with them. Through a large window, you can follow our work in distilling whisky and gin from the shop.
